Nadal triumphs Indian Wells


Rafael Nadal ousted Juan Martin Delpotro to achieve his third title after his come back from knee injury. Thrilling match between these two guys.

In first set, Nadal broke the first service game of Delpotro and got the lead, but Delpo who is in form after defeating world no.1 and world no.3 strongly came back into the set and won by 6-4.

And Delpo continued his rhythm to 3-0 lead in the second set. But, determined Rafa, rallied Delpo to clinch second set with 6-4.

And the decider was exciting, each one gave their best tennis and finally Rafa hold his nerves at match points and won the set with 6-4.

“A lot of things happened the last seven months, [so] to be back here and to have this very heavy trophy with me is amazing, beating three Top 10 players and winning a title like this is just something unbelievable for me. I’m very, very happy and very emotional.” – said Nadal

“I think Rafa deserved to win,the last hour of the match, he played so solid and put me so far [from] the baseline and made winners. But I think I [had] a good tournament anyway, and Rafa played really well today in the second and third sets. He broke me early in the third. Playing against him when the score is down is tougher. I was fighting all the time but he won in the end.” – said Delpo.

This is a historic win for Rafael Nadal, here at Indian Wells on sunday. It is his 600th win and ,only second to achieve this feat after Swiss Maestro Roger Federer in the open era.

With this BNP Paribas open title Nadal increased his ATP masters 1000 title number to 22, which is a new record, earlier Roger and Rafa tied at 21 titles.

Meanwhile in Women Singles, Maria Sharapova won title.
